Susan Sarandon Bio

It was just after the 1968 Democratic convention when there was an audition for a movie that featured several roles for young people who had disrupted convention. "It was a fantastic script ... and removed the myths that surround it and challenge the American definition of success" said Sarandon. "I went to the studio with Kevin Costner and shook hands with his gorgeous assistants before getting back on the plane. Tim Robbins (1988), her Bull Durham supporting actor, had already had two sons in 1992 which made Sarandon in a position in which she could leave her home and pursue difficult roles. This led to four Academy Award nominations in the 1990s and best actress for Dead Man Walking (1995). Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980) was her first Academy Award nomination.
